The first archived post for the Couch Pirates was on February 27th, 2002. The original concept for the Couch Pirates site was very simple; create a place where a group of friends could get some of our crazy conversations and routines in a permanent location and share our dementia with the world. It was Scott who came up with the term “Couch Pirate” to describe what Kevin looked like as he was lounging around.
Rate This Chick was an immediate draw and we got a lot of attention from that. Everyone pitched in and did articles on wrestling, politics, sports, books, movies and comics, or anything else that came to mind. It wasn’t long before we had a lot of content and the site took on it’s own unique flavor.
Regular Features included Ring Rust, the Splash Page, Have You Seen This?, The Loathesome Fugitive, Club Nachos, Quote of the Week and the Beef boy Rants, which spun off into it’s own site in 2004.
With the new platform, many of the original Couch Pirates returning and some new Pirates joining in the fun, we’re set up to deliver our own unique brand of humor and insight, well into our second decade!
