The best time to start exit planning is the day you start the business. The next best time to start exit planning is.... TODAY! The worst time to start is just before you want to exit. Exit planning is not the steps you take just before and during a transaction. It is the basic strategy you employ and actions you take years in advance to build sustainable, transferrable value of the business.
