I would stay here again. My view of the hills was lovely and the room was stunning. They provide Air con, a heater and I think a dehumidifier. Staff were great and you can't hear anything in the room in terms of traffic or restaurant noise above. I did still use earplugs because I'm such a light sleeper but the bed was so comfortable.Perfect walking distance to bus station and the rest of the town area.

Overall we enjoyed ourselves and definitely would come back to the bar, however the issues with cleanliness would stop us staying again.I asked at checkout how to provide feedback and was told the only way was online, which is poor in itself. We loved the location of Muse, and the rooftop bar was incredible! Such beautiful views, sweet staff (who even gave us an anniversary drink), and delicious food and drinks. The hotel staff were friendly. The space is lovely and looks pretty at a glance, but once you look closely it starts to unravel and lower the satisfaction.

The whole building has this ambient diffuser that smelled like cheap perfume or deodorant. It was so strong it triggered my allergies. You have to share the lift with drunk people going to the rooftop bar, it made me feel so unsafe. The room had this motel vibe a bit tacky, really. The cleaning standards at this place are the lowest I’ve seen. The bathroom mirror was full of makeup and fingertip marks. The walls had something sticky on them. The shampoo smelled exactly the same as the body wash, both smelled like detergent and they were not even freshened up before my stay. The toilet brush was disgusting. The room had a single heating portable unit, not enough for the kind of cold the city was experiencing during my stay. There is no room service. They advertise a coffee machine in the room. My room had a coffee machine that looked like it hadn’t been used in years, dusty and unclean, with two coffee pods God knows how long they’ve been sitting there.By far the most underwhelming, uncomfortable and disgusting hotel I’ve stayed in. Not good value for money. Find someplace else. The good: friendly staff. Comfy bed.

Was a good location. Room was comfortable enough, and breakfast was average. Parking was slightly awkward, wasn’t overly easy.

Great property. Friendly manager and staff. Well appointed rooms with fantastic new bathrooms. Easy walk to everything in Christchurch CBD. Nice roof top bar. Property also has basic complimentary continental breakfast.

My partner and I were driving to Christchurch on the last leg of our 2 weeks holiday in New Zealand from Australia. When we got here, the receptionist told us the parking is full. We had to park at a pay carpark. We asked for direction to the carpark, she bluntly said next door. We unloaded two large luggages and bags of shopping from our holiday. My partner drove around for 25mins to find the parking lot that was mentioned to us( it definitely was not next door, it is three blocks away!). Some of the roads are one way and when he actually spotted the car park, he could not drive in due to one way street! This issue can easily be prevented if we had a map given to us to get to the pay carpark by the reception. If you are driving to Christchurch, DO NOT stay at The Muse Hotel! This experience leaves a us a bitter taste in our mouths!!😫. To add to our misery, we had to wake up at 5.45am the next morning, walked three blocks away in the rain from our hotel to put more money in the pay machine for parking our car!! The next morning we found out all the parking on the side of the hotel for customers are empty. The very unhelpful reception could have mentioned this to us so we would not risk be the only car parked overnight in a pay carpark! The Muse management, we recommend that you re-trained your front staff to be more considerate and thoughtful of your customers.

Right in the centre of town. Modern if small rooms with large bathrooms. Friendly helpful reception. Limited but good breakfast buffet. The rooftop bar is a must visit for the view and the atmosphere. Would definitely stay again.

Loved staying here. The staff were incredibly sweet. Let us in at 1:30 am and we’re very helpful during the day. Our room was trendy and clean 💐 flowers to everyone there

This place is amazing. Loved my three nights here, corner king room was awesome, top floor great view with morning sun. Appreciated the little electric heater given its winter. Bed very comfy, room modern and bathroom/shower decent size. I had breakfast included, the only thing I would change is more variety for breakfast, maybe some hot food like scrambled eggs and bacon. It would be 5/5 with that. I used the complimentary gym at snap fitness, a 2 min walk away. Hotel close to everything including public transport. Really enjoyed my stay, highly recommend.

Don't normally put reviews out there, but as they have been a bit lumpy for the Muse thought I'd contribute our really positive experience there. I made an error with another booking so was a late choice made by my travel agent, and was nervous after seeing reviews about cleanliness etc but for us no issues at all. Reception, common areas and room (we were on 6th floor) were all spotless. Lift was a bit knocked around but given its used for top floor bar and restaurant supplies a bit of leeway on that. Room decor was art deco lite, with really comfy bed and pillows, good sized bathroom and rain shower head. Water pressure so so, but I've had a lot worse so no issues. Some noise from restaurant above but again nothing to complain about.Location is good and getting better once stadium is built 200m away.Minimal interaction with staff but they were all friendly. We parked out on street as plenty of metered parks about which are free 5pm-9am.We will stay here next time we're in Christchurch, really happy with our experience

My husbands company made a reservation 25/6. My husband arrived on a late flight at 9:20. He pressed the buzzer to get in but was left outside in the cold for 15min he then pressed it again and asked that they please let him in - this did not happen they just said we don't have a reservation for him, he had an itinerary to proof he had a booking but still they left him outside on the street for another 15 min before they tried to get a duty manager out - this was crazy how do you leave your clients to wait outside for 30min late night in the freezing cold - totally unacceptable

We booked in online, easy done. Nice welcome, clean reception but noisy due to works going on side of building - an necessity. Room had a great view, shame about the carpark being a block away, but once again - understandable in CHCH.Great location, walking distance to city centre, food eateries, shopping, pubs and cafe's. Lovely decor in rooms, warm with heater's on, lovely open bathroom and shower. Will definitely recommend.

Good location - 10-15 minute walk into the Riverside Market area for the lively food-court, bars and restaurants. The hotel itself is a bit soulless, minimalist concrete with murals decor in public areas, but comfortable rooms. Despite being in a city location, our room was quiet. There is also a rooftop bar that we didn't visit.

Travelled here on business staying on a Tuesday. This place has good marketing, unfortunately sets expectations too high. The reception area was under construction of some sort and we didn't know if we were in the right place. Receptionist didn't offer anything that resembled a warm welcome or let us know about any of the work or disturbances going on and the ground floor Cafe seemed to be closed and staff glaring at guests checking in.Not a great first impression. There is a large construction project underway at the site next door. They had put signs in the lift to let us know to expect noise as they would be pouring concrete at 5am.Thankfully, I didn't hear anything, and there was no disturbance from the upstairs bar despite being on Level 6 as per other reviews. My colleague, however, was woken by the construction. If you're a light sleeper and looking for a restful night, this is not the place for you.

I really enjoyed my stay - clean, nice views and very comfy bed. Loved the smell of the rooms as well 😍

A bit disappointed with state of hotel.Starting to feel a bit tatty.REALLY need to sort out the so called cafe where breakfast is served. NOT up to standards of this hotels star rating.Room more than acceptable.Best things about hotel are 7 Dining and Pink Flamingo rooftop bar

The rooms are nice and bright. Everything was fresh and smelled clean. My guests who stayed there loves the proximity to all the hotspots in the city.

Good hotel in fabulous location. Has a nice rooftop terrace serving nice cocktails and drinks. The rooms were nice with look at city centre construction work.

Not a great room experience for the price I paid for one night. Couldn't get the AC to work properly, the curtains were difficult to open and close. Had to use the fan that was noisy, very hot and stuffy. There was no phone service/ things to do folder provided. Both restaurants were closed even though it was Cup day. The convenience of being close to the transport centre is why I chose it. Left without taking up my breakfast option as I awoke feeling unwell. Dissatisfied.

We booked through an agent (trailfinders) and were happy with the situation and the room. It’s a quake city so do bear in mind it’s standing alone almost- bare ground in front and around the back a large “hole “ being worked with builders in evidence ( late January’24).The room was adequate, not very large but the bathroom was good- large shower. Think the bed wasn’t made up by staff at least one day.We meant to go to the upstairs bar but got busy eating out so didn’t feel inclined but on the evening we intended to go- Monday, it was closed. Can’t comment on the breakfast as we went to akin round the corner. Reception staff quite helpful. Overall a satisfactory hotel stay. A city stay in a great recovering city.
